Kaliyuga
Kali Yuga, also known as the Age of Kali, is the last of the four stages (Yugas) in the cycle of ages described in Hindu cosmology. According to Hindu scriptures such as the Mahabharata and the Puranas, the four Yugas are:
1. Satya Yuga (or Krita Yuga): The age of truth and righteousness, characterized by virtue and spiritual enlightenment.
2. Treta Yuga: The age where virtue diminishes by one-fourth compared to the previous Yuga.
3. Dvapara Yuga: The age where virtue further declines to one-half of the original value.
4. Kali Yuga: The age of darkness and degeneration, characterized by moral and societal decline, greed, deceit, and conflict. It is believed that in Kali Yuga, righteousness is at its lowest, and humanity faces numerous challenges and trials.
Kali Yuga is said to be the shortest of the four Yugas, lasting for 432,000 years. It is believed that we are currently living in the Kali Yuga according to Hindu cosmology, with the cycle of ages continuously repeating in a cosmic cycle known as the "Yuga cycle." However, interpretations of the duration and timing of the Yugas may vary among different Hindu traditions.
